Nephrology is a specialty that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the kidneys. The kidneys maintain normal fluid and electrolyte balance in the body that are vital to live a normal, healthy life. As nephrologists, we diagnose and put together the best treatment plan for our patients to maintain a healthy life.

Pediatric

Pediatric nephrologists specialize in the care of patients from newborns to young adults. This involves the diagnosis and management of many kidney related conditions and disorders, including: high blood pressure, kidney stones, electrolyte disorders, urinary tract infections, urinary reflux, problems with blood or protein in the urine, and kidney failure. We also help children with diabetes take care of their kidneys.

Transplant

VNA and the University of Virginia developed an outpatient nephrology program at VNA, reducing the amount of travel time to and from Charlottesville for these patients. A transplant coordinator located at VNA provides coordination between the patients, the University of Virginia and VNA to provide pre- and post-transplant services locally.

Vascular Access

Our Nephrologists have specialized training in Interventional Nephrology. Those physicians are dedicated to providing the comprehensive dialysis access treatment needed to keeping your access functioning and minimizing any complications. Services provided, but not limited to:
